# Air Taxi Services Coming to U.S. Cities This Year
Joby Aviation and other companies plan to launch commercial air taxi services across major American cities within months. These electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft, known as eVTOLs, will transport passengers short distances in urban areas, bypassing ground traffic entirely.
The catch? Expect premium pricing. Initial flights will target business travelers and those willing to pay significantly more than traditional transportation options. Joby Aviation has already secured regulatory approval and partnerships with ride-sharing platforms to integrate air taxi bookings.
Several cities have confirmed service launches. San Francisco tops the list, with service potentially beginning this summer. Los Angeles, Miami, and New York are also in active development stages.
The aircraft seat four to six passengers and produce minimal emissions, addressing both congestion and environmental concerns. Flight times between major city hubs typically last 10 to 15 minutes.
