Safety Wing, a travel insurance company, has launched Nomad Citizen, an annual membership designed for location-independent entrepreneurs and business owners who spend more than half the year outside their home country.
The plan bundles health coverage, travel protection, income protection, and life insurance into one package. It covers people under 56 who earn at least $4,000 USD per month and works globally with no residency restrictions except Puerto Rico. Members sign up online, declare good health, and confirm they'll be outside their passport country for over half the year. Partners and children under 18 can be added.
Pricing for those signing up on or after July 1, 2026 ranges from $443 per month for ages 18 to 39, rising to $665 monthly for ages 40 to 49, and $875 for ages 50 to 55. Children cost $143 per month (first child under 10 can be added at no cost for couples).
Health coverage includes up to $1.5 million annually for inpatient, outpatient, prescriptions, dental, vision, mental health, maternity, and preventive care. Income protection pays up to $4,000 per month for up to three or six months if you lose income due to job loss or medical conditions. Travel coverage includes trip delays, cancellations, lost luggage, evacuation, and robbery.
Additional benefits include parental leave paying $4,000 monthly (with a three-year waiting period), long-term disability of $4,000 monthly to age 75 for serious conditions, visa assistance for nomad visas, and access to a database of over 4,000 healthcare providers worldwide. Members receive a SafetyWing prepaid card usable for covered services up to $500 with automatic claim processing. All services operate through a single app with 24/7 human support.
